Philippine Educational Research Organization (PhEdRO)

About Us!

PHEDRO was created to help educational researchers in the Philippines connect and collaborate. For too long, valuable studies have been conducted in isolation without building on each other’s insights.

Our goal is to unite the education research community through an open sharing of ideas. On our online platform, researchers from all backgrounds can find and discuss the latest studies. Policymakers access data to guide decision-making. Teachers learn innovative practices directly from those developing them.

Since the launch of this project, we want to grow a network of thousands across the country. Researchers use PHEDRO to stay updated on peers’ findings, seek collaborators on new projects, and present their own work to a wider audience.

We want to make it easy for anyone involved in education to access research when and how they need it. By bringing stakeholders together in one place, we can strengthen the link between evidence and real-world solutions. A more connected community means faster progress for all learners nationwide.

Our platform is free and open to researchers of any experience level or specialization. Join us to be a part of building a stronger, more collaborative future for education research in the Philippines.

The Founder

Barjunaid Cadir - PHEDRO Founder - Philippine Educational Research Organization
My name is Barjunaid Cadir, a former PhD student of Educational Management, Inspection and Planning, and Economics at the Anadolu University, in Eskisehir, Turkey. For my dissertation, I knew I needed to conduct an extensive literature review of previous studies related to my topic. However, as I began searching various databases, I was surprised by how few educational research studies from the Philippines were available in one centralized place.

Most were scattered across individual university repositories or published years ago in hard copy-only journals. As a public school teacher on the side, I also saw firsthand how policy decisions were made without sufficient data to back them up. Educators desperately needed better access to the insights of Filipino researchers.

That’s when the idea for PHEDRO was born. I wanted to build an online hub where all educational research from and about the Philippines could be collected and shared. Not only would it help future students like me, but it could also help inform educational reforms to improve learning outcomes nationwide.

As a freelance writer and social media manager on the side, I had some technical and networking skills to get started. I began by reaching out to professors and researchers, hearing their pain points with the current system. Then I worked to design a website where studies could be uploaded, tagged, and searched in one place.

It has been a long journey of nights and weekends spent coding, outreach, and data entry. But seeing the database grow and researchers from all over the country connecting means it is worth it. My vision is for PHEDRO to one day be the leading advocate for using evidence to elevate Philippine education for all. I hope you’ll join me on this journey towards more data-driven decision-making and learning excellence.
